Makiya is Our Little Genius!

Ok, Ok, I know EVERY parent must believe their child is a budding genius at some point, but REALLY I swear she must be! Every day she surprises me even more! They really do learn so quickly, little sponges!

This week Makiya learned 3 more signs...more, eat and diaper! She knows milk, but seems to be getting a little confused with all done and help. She can show you feet, sometimes legs, belly, hands, mouth, teeth, nose, eyes, ears, hair and head!
Makiya has a couple of picture/word books that she is devouring, hmmm, literally at times! But she has learned sooo many! It's about 40-50 items that I can think of without actually grabbing the book to check!
She says "Ah dun mum" at meal times and bath time. She of course says mom and dad, sometimes love, light, "dis" or "dat" (what's this?), "dide" for outside, and she works on kitty, cat and Shamos although it comes out as a mish mash of them all sometimes! Makiya's FAVORITE word is DAD! We ask her to say love, and she ALWAYS comes back with DAD!

Makiya totally loves her daddy! The instant she spots him she's screaming, and kicking and smiling! It's the first thing out of her mouth when we get her from sleep. The times daddy isn't there yet, she is looking all over, pointing towards the downstairs. If daddy is gone to work, she knows to point to the door or the window we look out at him through!

Makiya is also a HUGE fan of her grandma. All she has to do is hear her name, hear Skype or see the cords for the computer microphone and she is ready! She heads to the dining table, where we usually set the laptop up for "Grandma Calls"! When I ask her if we should call grandma, or if she hears the Skype ringtone, she loses it! Full of squeals and smiles!

I discovered this week that she recognizes her Great Grandma and Grandpa as well! I have pictures of them in our china cabinet, and she can point each of them out, with this sweet little smile!

Makiya absolutley loves music, even has some favorite songs! As soon as she hears a beat, she starts to dance even if she is sitting down! She shakes her little tushy, shakes, bends her knees and is starting to lift her feet as she does it!

I could honestly go on and on I am sure! It fills me with pride to see the things she picks up on each day. It is just truly an amazing gift to be going on this journey with Makiya as she grows and learns!

Feels like Monday today...

Arghh...It feels like a Monday on so many levels this morning! I can't seem to get going these days!

The house is a disaster, it needs some serious TLC! I am thinking I should make a cup of tea, turn on CMT and get to it...Sounds like a great plan in theory, hmmm...not moving so fast yet...

It's funny, I have gotten into this state of feeling like I am just not home yet, and it's got me not taking pride in our house. It doesn't feel right, so instead of changing that, I just let it be...

I miss our plants, we always had lots of them, green's never home without plants! They add so much life and warmth... I even went so far as to start 3 avacado seeds, just to have SOMETHING growing! It's a good start I guess, but all I have so far is ROOTS! (Hmmm, looking at that, I am onto something with that...not home yet, all I have is roots...hmmm, I should write that one down!)

Well, I really should go and try and get something done...

To Blog or Not to Blog...that has been the question...

Well, my mom has been dying for me to get this going, so, finally, here I go!
I am really not sure where I will begin, what I will use this for exactly, but, as I have been constantly reminded, (hee hee hee, mom!) I MUST start somewhere!

I am not sure who will visit this page, what parts of it will they find intriguing? I love to write, it's just been so long since I utilized writing the way I used's been almost cathartic(?) at times, a way to organize raging emotions and thoughts, sometimes just a need to express!

I am pretty certain that once I get organized, I want to include a spot (?) with my OLD writing... When I was a teenager, I carried around one of those HUGE binders, it's navy blue, writing all over it, just like we did in those days! I had it over full of writing...mostly pretty dark and depressing was that work that began my desire to get my writing out there. I wanted to share it with people who were looking for something that would speak to them, "you are not alone"...
Crazy as those days may have been, they were vital in turning me into the woman I am still becoming today! No regrets allowed!

That desire to share my inner thoughts also comes with a fear...of what I cannot exactly find the words to's just a little overwhelming to imagine putting myself out there, in real time, the emotions that will sometimes come out...

I have to get my pictures organized, b/c I can't wait to add some to this as well...
I guess as the words bring the memories, I will be reminded of a photo that I will NEED to add!

This is guaranteed to be a journey and a half! I am so inspired by the growth that my mom has found by starting her own blog, it has helped take her totally back to her passion with writing, and she is taking an incredible road herself!

Well, it will be fun I am sure...Can't wait to see what happens with it all!
